Mood

Stress can easily take over your life. The majority of people believe that there is insufficient time in a day to accomplish everything, from their careers to their families to their health to their finances to anything in between. Stress is bad enough in and of itself, but stress can also cause real physical and emotional harm if it is allowed to go unchecked. There are many drugs that are designed to reduce stress, but is putting extra drugs and chemicals in your system really the best way to balance things out? Your life can be less stressful in a better way. One of the best and most tried and true ways for reducing stress is through meditation. Though it may sound intimidating, meditation has occurred in every culture in one form or another through out history. You'll learn how to relax and clear your mind by following these steps, and you'll be amazed at how quickly the stress disappears! Begin each relaxation time by reducing distractions, noise, and interruptions. Give yourself the space and time you require. Find a comfortable sitting position, wear loose and comfortable clothing. Take a few deep breaths and relax. Try to concentrate mentally on a single tranquil word, thought, or image with your eyes closed. Try to picture a picture, a memory, or anything else that helps you relax. For some people its the sound of the ocean, for others waterfalls, and for yet others, the memory of staring off a mountain peak. Relax your muscles, clear your mind, and don't worry about what's going on around you. Relax and enjoy the peace that your image brings to you. Don't force the image to stay when you start to drift away from it. This is a good time to stop. As you wrap up, stretch deeply and exhale deeply. This is the simplest and earliest type of meditation. This serves as the foundation for a number of other exercises and meditations, in addition to working as a stress reliever on its own. If you decide to continue, you will always want to begin with this fundamental relaxation and meditation. As you go into further exercises, concentrate on whatever phrases help you relax. Nice and easy, is a good generic one, while Christian meditation may use a scripture such as Be still, and know I am the Lord. There are meditative scriptures for almost any faith, and plenty of non-religious phrases, chants, or incantations. Look around for other exercises once you have found the phrase that works best for you. The only side effect of meditation is a calmer, healthier life as a result of your improved mood. It is a great way to relax and will do more to improve your health and reduce stress than any medication.

Although the word "exercise" may not be the most exciting one in your vocabulary, there are numerous advantages to it. Participating in daily exercise not only makes us healthier in general, it can diminish the effects of stress on our bodies as well. How many times have you heard someone proclaim, The doctor says its stress. ? We occasionally laugh it off, concluding thats just what doctors say when they dont know the real answer or diagnosis. Bend, stretch, reach, walk. And theres no need necessarily to buy expensive equipment. You can reap the benefits of adding more movement to your daily routine. You've heard it dozens of times walking really is the best overall excise for your health. As long as you have a decent pair of walking shoes, you're in business! Also, instead of using a pick up stick or knocking the item toward you with your foot as you go about your daily activities, make it a habit to walk a little bit further, bend down, and pick something up. Perform some easy stretches for your neck and shoulders while you are sitting. Buy a jogging board if you enjoy watching TV. It is not easy to deal with your fears, post-traumatic stress, or anxiety problems. Talking to a professional, who can point you in the right direction for getting better, should be your first step. It is very important to get help from a counselor or other professional because they can give you a lot of help and insight into how to deal with your problem right now. In addition, here are some techniques a person can use to help manage their fears and anxieties. Learn to take each day as it comes. Instead of worrying about how you will get through the rest of the week or coming month, try to focus on today. Each day can provide us with different opportunities to learn new things and that includes learning how to deal with your problems. Stop trying to predict what might happen next week and concentrate on the now. Next week will take care of itself. A good way to manage your fear is to challenge your negative thinking with positive statements and realistic thinking. When encountering thoughts that make your fearful or anxious, challenge those thoughts by asking yourself questions that will maintain objectivity and common sense. Sometimes, we may be nervous doing a certain task that may be scary. When this happens, visualize yourself doing the task in your mind. For instance, you and your team have to play in the championship hockey game in front of a large group of people in the next few days. Before the big day comes, imagine yourself playing the game in your mind. Imagine that your playing in front of a large audience. By playing the game in your mind, you will be better prepared to perform for real when the time comes. Self-visualization is a great way to ease anxiety and fear about upcoming events. Remember that there is one power that is stronger than your fears and that is the power of God. A person does not have to be religious to use the power of God. When the going gets tough, talk to God about your problems as if you were talking to a friend. Review the Bible and pray hard. Keep trying and be open to the possibilities that God may present to you for resolving your issue. It is not always easy, however God is in control and he will help you if you ask him. As a Layman, I realize it is not easy to deal with all of our fears, however there are all kinds of help available. The key is to be patient and not to give up. In time, you will be able to find those resources that will help you with your problems.
